The version of xv which I use only has dependencies upon libc and libX11.a.
Do you have a nonstandard libX11.a perhaps?

xv is not yet included in the Toolbox (and may never be) because it is
has unique terms and conditions which pushed it further down our stack, if
not all the way off.  It is not freeware and it has commercial restrictions.
We might go after it someday, but it won't be real soon.  Good chance that
you can find it at the Bull or UCLA AIX freeware sites.

I know that distributions include it, but we're being very careful here.
