Some of you have noticed that KDE 2.1 has become visible on the web site. There was a problem in the KDE 2.1 build and another on the web site itself which will get in the way of early adopters. The KDE 2.1 build was performed on an alternate build system which had an additional symlink for libjpeg visible. That symlink was present in an internally available level of libjpeg-6b; unfortunately, that caused KDE to have a dependency on libjpeg.so, which is not available in libjpeg-6b-2. We generated a libjpeg-6b-3 to cover that situation, but the website is still pointing to libjpeg-6b-2. So, there are a couple of workarounds. Download and install the new libjpeg-6b-3: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeSoftware/aixtoolbox/RPMS/ppc/libjpeg/libjpeg/libjpeg-6b-3.aix4.3.ppc.rpm rpm -hUv libjpeg-6b-3.aix4.3.ppc.rpm OR: Generate a link as below and use --nodeps when you install the KDE files. There's going to be a freeze on the web site content for a while. We'll continue to make new content available on the FTP site, but it will not be reflected for a while on the web site.
