We are very careful about non-commercial clauses.  We would most likely have
to approach each situation individually and request formal permission.
We're distributing the packages for free, but we'll be distributing them
along with the operating system, which is clearly a commercial venture.
We don't want to be anybody's legal test case, really.

The nicest thing would be a combination of an RPM SPEC file and patches,
with the prefix set to /opt/freeware.

I've never tested it, but there is a patch section at the project page.

We realize that we're going to be playing catch-up with our users for some
time to come.  We hope that you'll bear with us.  The bottlenecks are legal 
clearances and packaging.
