That's something that we need to add to the README. If you're going to install the GnuPro tools (gcc, g++, etc), then you need to have the application development support that comes with the base operating system media. That support isn't installed with AIX by default since it's not required in order to run the system in general, but it is included in every version of AIX (so "included" but not strictly "free"). The fileset that you would need for sure would be bos.adt.include. You'll need X11.adt.include for X11 support. There are other tools and files under the bos.adt and X11.adt umbrellas; if you have plenty of disk space, I'd install all of bos.adt and X11.adt from your AIX installation media.
