I don't know how often there are updates for the linuxtoolbox packackages.

But it might be worth a try to have a look at http://www.perzl.org  or at 
http://www.bullfreeware.com/ .

On both sites you'll find quite actual versions of the different packages.

Is anyone aware of plans to update the freetype2 & libpng RPMs or at least
how one would contribute to doing so? These are currently pre-reqs to
installing Firefox on AIX and they appear to contain a rash of security
vulnerabilities as per the National Vulnerability Database.
