#240 Proftpd does not support pwd_algorithm ssha256

After switching the pwd_algorithm in login.cfg to ssha256 and changing passwords, proftpd will not log the user in anymore. Switching the pwd_algorithm back and resetting the password fixes the problem. Compiling a new version from the proftpd website fixes the problem, but we have had issues with onsite compiled versions of proftpd in the past.
