I'm trying keep from sounding like an ignorant 'airogant' =) fool, but I can't find the answers I'm looking for... so I'm turning to the group again. As the subject states, I'm trying to bridge linux machines with aironet cards in adhoc mode. I can get it working for about 20 packets then everything hangs... I think I know why however I'll save that for the reply. From what I've read the aironet card will not allow different destination mac address than it's own however I would like to overcome this... I'm willing to put in the time if someone would give me a little insight. First, can I do this in the driver? If I _can't_ do it in the driver, is there documentation on the opcodes and layout of the firmware. If there is a better solution could someone please suggest it. I know about IP forwarding, routeing and the alternative options however I need to build a bridged STP network at the ethernet level. (And we have a ton of aironet cards laying around here) I know that the orinoco driver supports this and I've started digging in a little, but it seems to me that this is a firmware level issue with the aironet cards... but I don't know for sure, so here I am. Could someone please break down the issues with this. If your going to parrot something you read in a HOWTO or newsgroup from 6 months ago please don't respond. I'm looking for hard facts and honest answers. Yes, it can work because wireless bridging do exist and work, I'm going to get this working if it kills me. =) Thanks. John B |
