If you mean by 802.11b support - the ability to use 11mbit - the 4800 product has always been able to do that. The orginal 4800's couldn't handle wep at speeds higher than 2mbit - but the 4800A's fixed that. The 340 is technically a renamed 4800B - and they both are quite compatible with the 4800's and 4800A's - as long as the older 4800's are not asked to do 11mbit with wep...
