maybe I'm asking to you a boring and very easy to answer question, but I
will be very thanks for your reply because for me is very important!!
I have to write a location aware application for my degree thesis. This
application is based upon a location-aware framework that uses the linux
wireless extensions to talk with physical (wireless) layer. Also the
location-aware framework uses smtp traps from cisco aironet to track the
position of a mobile terminal (that's the reason i'm writing to this
list!!). My problem is that I can test my application only in the labs of my
university, cause there I have all the cisco infrastructure...
So I need to know if I can setup something like a virtual wireless interface
(cisco aironet compliant) on my home computer and on my laptop too, without
having any cisco aironet adapter, but using my normal ethernet.
If all this is possible, can you tell me step by step how I can do that??
Ps: Also i'm not really sure that I have wireless extensions on my home
computer (redhat 7 linux-2.4.7-10) because I can see /proc/net/wireless but
I can't find iwconfig, iwspy and other command-line stuffs... Why?? Do I
have to recompile the kernel, or just I need to add those command-line
Again sorry for my really newbie question (and for my bad english too...:)
