I have been working on getting a PCI 4800 to work in a Cobalt Qube2
(2800WG), and now have one working.
(Qube is a risc box running linux-mips, v2.0.34) I am using airo.c v0.98so.
From this I have 3 questions:
1. Has anyone else done anything with aironet cards in cobalt machines?
2. One problem I encountered was the first 3 cards I tried would cause the
whole thing to lock up solid, over a period varying from instantly to after
several minutes. These cards all worked without problem in one machine
running win NT that I quickly tested them in. (although someone else had at
least one of the three consistently lock up another NT machine).
Has anyone else had cards that work in some machines only, or with windows
but not linux?
3. Has anyone modified, or are there plans to modify, the driver to be able
to be compiled into the kernel? (just airo.c for PCI / ISA). (On the
standard cobalt mips kernel source, modules are broken. There is an
'experimental' kernel from cobalt with working module support that I am
currently using, but I would like to be able to use the their 'production'
kernel source, for various reasons.)
ps. In regard to yesterdays question of taking the pcmcia cards off the
ISA/PCI carriers, we have two cards that we took off the carriers to use in
laptops, that appear to work fine, and have been upgraded without problem.
