hello, I have a number of production servers that are 2.0.36 based linux
distributions, self-rolled or based on old slackware distro's.
Also, I have in the past successfully made a stripped down version of
the above, demand dial routers so I do understand that it is possible to
incorporate and rearrange the file system and its packages.
Looking at the available meager docs on drivers for the 4800 pci adapter
Aironet card, and the fact that it is actually a PCMCIA card disguised
in a PCI adapter.. would someone please enlighten me what minimum
software packages I need to install to activate the ethernet interface ?
Initially I would try with a tried and trusty pair of Radio NICs in
adhoc mode, short range with omni antennas. Would 2.0.36 linux have the
required features ? I would really like to contribute in any form of
beta testing or stress testing network as we have a good research
environment and plenty of hardware to test it on (and space too :-)
I notice the output of the NIC is max 100 mW, but does anybody know the
type of cable that they use on the output port of that card (it is
extremely thin in dia.) or why they have TWO ports on their cards but
only use one ?
