ok, so I upgraded (by mistake) to some 5.x firmware and now
my WEP authentication is SOOOO broke.
anyone have a copy of whatever 4.X firware that works with the mpi350 and

ok, so I think ive got this damned thing figured out..
heres the scoop.
1. use the attached firmware file.. it works with the mpi350 (built in
wireless nic) nic on linux.
2. im using the http://sourceforge.net/projects/airo-linux drivers.
when using the airo-linux module, it appears that you SHOULD NOT use the
cisco utilities any more.. i.e. bcard, acu, etc.. as it will hose you up.
use the iwconfig tools instead.
anyway, I have loaded my module
laptop jason # lsmod | grep airo
airo_mpi 44548 1
then I do the following to bring the card up. I put mine in a script and
use sudo so that I dont have to be root to use it.
sudo /usr/sbin/iwconfig eth1 enc xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (26 chars for
128 bit wep)
sudo /usr/sbin/iwconfig eth1 essid "YOURSSID"
sudo /sbin/ifconfig eth1 X.X.X.X netmask 255.255.255.0 (or use dhcp)
sudo /sbin/route add default gw x.x.x.x (not needed if using dhcp)
at this point, it works to my belkin AP fine using 128bit WEP keys.
I hope this helps some folks out.
p.s. it appears that for the mpi350, there is no 4.x firmware. so my
apologies for sending folks on a wild goose chase there.. a bad assumption
on my part.
