I have a problem configuring my Aironet 4800 PCMCIA Card correctly for my
I have a "self build" linux-installation, (Kernel 2.2.19) with the 3.1.24
Cardservices with the appropriate airo_cs.o and airo.o Modules.
Do I have to load them both ? If I try to load only the airo_cs.o module, I
get lots of unresolved symbols.
How do I configure the drivers ? With the help of the modules.conf file (or
conf.modules ...) or only (?) with the pcmcia/wireless.opts ?
I try to create a adhoc network with this drivers, but nevertheless I edit
the wireless.opts, under /proc/aironet/eth1/Status or Config my SSID is not
set correctly. If I echo
echo "Mode: adhoc" >> /proc/aironet/eth1/Config
(This one works)
echo "Nodename: Aironet-Router" >> /proc/aironet/eth1/Config
echo "SSID: Local-Network " >>/proc/driver/aironet/eth1/Config
Then I get a "Couldn't figure out SSID: Local-Network"
What mistakes do I make ?
Could anybody tell my, how to setup this card ? My other linux boxes,
equipped with orinoco and am930 cards work fine .... :-)
After a few days no one has answered my questions ... but in some long nights
I answered them myself.
Why is this list so "helpless" ??

Yes, I don't know why, but airo_cs.o DOES need the airo.o ...

Both : since you have to load the airo.o driver you have got to give the
normal module parameters to this module.
After starting the cardservices you have to configure the more specific
parameters to airo_cs or by echo-ing parameters to the /proc/aironet files
But the question "Why do I have to load airo.o AND airo_cs.o if I do have a
pcmcia card" is not answered, yet ...
