I have attempted the installation based on directions
given on the aiptektablet driver homepage, with a
little luck and alot of frustration. First, a little
info on the system in question:
Latest WIP download used
Mandriva 2006 (2.6.12-12)
HP Pavillion ze4300 (Laptop)
All development packages installed.
Aiptek HP 12000U
precompiled driver (I don't have X source installed)
Ok, here's the problem I am experiencing. I have
successfully modified the xorg.conf file as required
and rebooted my system for clean logs. I plugged the
tablet in and it works.. sort of. I can move the pen
on the tablet in any direction and the only movement
that is translated to the screen is a straight up and
down motion. When the pointer is over a window with a
scrollbar, it acts as if the tablet is one big scroll
wheel. When I apply pressure to the tablet it moves
the cursor to the right until it is at the right
boundry of the screen. I have tried many combinations
of device entrys (mine appears to be /dev/input/event2
or event 3) and unplugging my external mouse, but
nothing I try changes the end result.
I have also tried compiling from source and the install
script appears to not like the newest versions of gcc
as it fails stating that my /lib/cpp and it's package
are not sanely installed.
Also, I can't seem to find the Gaiptek fron end. I've
looked everywhere for the command/executable to run it,
but I can't find anything close.
This is about all the info I can think of right now, if
you need more, then ask.
Oh, one more thing, when I shut X down, there are quite
a few messages from the driver stating that it ignored
input.
Thanks for your help in advance.
