#8 No ProximityOut events

In about line 3450 of xf86Aiptek.c (fresh from CVS) ,
the query for the proximity value is commented out (due
to a bug in Mandrake?), which leads to all events being
reported as "ProximityIn".
This leads to GTK-apps (such as the Gimp) not releasing
the tablet, the gimp pretends that all further events
come from the tablet even when they come from the
(normal) mouse.

Are there any ways to find a solution for users of Gimp
