Logs

AI File Sorter writes three rotating log files:

• core.log
• db.log
• ui.log

Log locations

• Windows: %APPDATA%\AIFileSorter\logs
• Linux: $XDG_CACHE_HOME/AIFileSorter/logs
• Linux fallback: ~/.cache/AIFileSorter/logs

Log rotation

Each log file rotates at 5 MiB and keeps 3 rolled files.

What to check first

• Start with core.log when troubleshooting backend selection, local model startup, or packaging/runtime issues.
• If a local GPU backend fails, try the system compatibility check and compare the available backend options.
• If local model downloads are incomplete, reopen Settings -> Select LLM... and verify the required model files are present.
