AgilPro 1.5.0 available

Hi all,

I am happy to announce that the next release (0.5) of the Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) project has been finalized. The Workflow Editor (WE) of JWT has been enhanced by several features, some bugs have been fixed (see detailed release notes below) and the JWT bundle now also includes new plugins such as new views (e.g. a view of UML activity diagrams) or transformations (e.g. from JWT to XPDL). Find more information about JWT and download it on http://www.eclipse.org/jwt. JWT currently prepares to get integrated into the yearly release train of Eclipse and will be part of Eclipse Galileo in 2009. With several new committers and support by a new mentor and more companies than before, we are looking forward to manage this important step for our project.... read more

AgilPro 1.4.0 available

I am happy to announce the first release of the Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) project. The aim of the JWT project is to ease the modeling, administration and execution of workflows and business processes. The Workflow Editor (WE) that we released is a first step towards this goal and enables the modeling of workflows that can be executed afterwards. In parallel we are working on transformations from/to the Eclipse BPMN editor as well as to XPDL-code. The workflow editor provides several constructs that are necessary to model an executable workflow (applications, data, roles, etc.) and provides different views for one workflow (currently a business and a technical view). It integrates easily into your Eclipse workbench and is itself based on the EMF and GEF framework. You can find more information about JWT and the WE here: http://www.eclipse.org/jwt/components/we/index.php. ... read more

AgilPro goes Eclipse

Last week the Eclipse board accepted the project proposal "Java Workflow Toolbox (JWT)" as a new subproject under the Eclipse Technology project. AgilPro will probably be the courner stone of this upcoming project and the project leads of AgilPro are in the advisory board and among the project leads of Eclipse JWT.
In JWT which is supported by companies and institutes like ObjectWeb, JBoss and TIBCO, the interoperability between workflow editors and workflow engines is the key point. Currently, if an application is working with one process engine it is not easily possible to switch to another one. A set of generic APIs is necessary to achieve this generalicity.
AgilPro with its basis on EMF and GEF will be adapted to be conform to an interface which will be defined in the context of the JWT project.

Java Workflow Toolbox (JWT) matters!

Overview of JWT

The JWT project aims to provide both build-time and runtime tools for workflow engines. It will initially be composed of two tools,WE (Workflow Editor) and WAM (Workflow engine Administration and Monitoring tool).

WE will be a visual tool for creating, managing and reviewing process definitions. Straightforward and simple, WE will let users quickly create workflow process definitions, check and store them for further use. Once a process definition is proved valid, it can be imported/referenced into new ones, thus shortening the time and effort needed to define workflow process.... read more
