    Sounds great Gordan.

    I had a nice meeting with my new boss today. My initial focus will be on quality, starting with code reviews. The problem common to most shops, especially closed-source shops, is that programmers are writting for the computer, not for other developers. They write a great deal of code and feel productive. But documentation is lacking and the number of bugs is always increasing.

    Software should be written to be read, but programmers are reluctant communicators. Hey, the code works. Its great! No, I didn't think of the edge conditions or the odd cases--but it works ok for the normal case. 

    Changing this is difficult. Everyone is happy doing their own thing. And they have deadlines to meet, yes? 

    Now if you take some measure of software productivity, figure the average number of bugs introduced and how long it takes to fix them, then figure the number of bugs introduced when fixing a bug, you may find that the most productive programmer is too often the one who writes no code. :-)
