Norm, I do so dislike using the Ark with just a text box. Having a Swing interface will be a big help, and it looks like it will be ready soon. Of course, its only my simple display model. Later I can develop a more Rolonic interface model, mm? Now my reason for moving to an RMI interface is simply because I need to have a multi-client test environment early in the development cycle. Fortunately everything is ready for it and it will not take long. So in about 2 weeks I should be back to working on descriptors and commands, which really need work. But the overall framework is in really good shape. I'm so tired of working on infrastructure. I expect it will be a while until I get back to it and do a second UI model and turn this thing into a web server. There is just so much functionality left to implement. :-( Overall I am quite suprised at how quickly the Swing GUI has gone. NetBeans and GroupLayout has helped a lot, as well as past experience in Python. It has all gone very well, and the displays are looking quite nice. Of course, even when I get back to commands I'll still need to add to the GUI--things like editing. I am very much looking forward to your contributions as a tester, but I'll note that there is as yet no way to create dumps or snapshots--yet another area which needs work. so it looks like I'll be in alpha for a while yet. :-( Bill --------------------------------- Jiyo cricket on Yahoo!
