This morning I completed the implementation of the full AgileWiki2 brace notation, except for pathname and lsec references. (Brace notation is used in the content of a document.) So for example: {topic name} will be a link to the topic, even if it is not a proper wiki name, {{WikiName}} will NOT be a link to a topic, even if it is a proper wiki name and {sf|http://www.sf/net} is a link labeled "sf" to the sourceforge site. So the next step is to enhance the API to support pathnames and lsecs. And we might as well add a goto command too. Bill |

Gordon, I'm looking forward to the day you begin to contribute code. :-) And it is fortunate that AgileWiki3 is still in alpha, yes? Hi Bill, This is big project, AgileWiki3_alpha25 have more clasess, and I was thinking and start again but from AgileWiki3_alpha1 and now its look more clearlry! AgileWiki folders(packages) : cmds, tks, view and portals (in new version AgileWiki3 this is AWServer) let me understend and give me knowledge about parameters methods and relations (to better undersend I was analyse and implement class diagram with relations!), so, I m stil on the begin state in project, with strong inspiration to reach understend new version and I have time for that. Actually, it looks like the compstrm list is again blocking Yahoo. :-( Gordan, you are free of course to take any approach you wish. The way I'm working with Sougata is to focus only on a small part of AwServer. This way he can be productive and consequently gain confidence in what he is doing. (Though even so, I think I am still pushing him to his limits of comprehension at times.) And of course, I like the idea of getting everyone productive. :-) This is a good time for a lot of interaction. We're a small group. But then, there's not a lot of documentation yet, so all you have is me and the code. Hopefully we can grow this group to a few thousand, though I don't know how long that will take. And why am I so interested in a LARGE group of developers? Not so much for working on AgileWiki. Rather, my aim is to provide a very useful platform for others to develop applications on. But we've got a ways to go on that. AgileWiki isn't even a complete wiki yet! (Though it is starting to get close.) Good progress today. I changed AwServlet so that body content displays entirely in the iframe, rather than just the document. Further, only one element displays at a time--you select the element from a header within the iframe. In the wiki, there are three elements at most: the document, the lsecs table and the children. The rolonic display has more, of course. Tomorrow then I'll work on reorganizing the rolonic display. Shouldn't take long now. I'm just going to rework the header (so it looks more like the wiki) and move the cents display down to the body. After that, lets see what happens. Bill --------------------------------- Yahoo! In the new wiki web display, the LSecs are displayed after the iframe containing the document. Which means that you might not notice them. I'm uncomfortable with this and definately do not want to build on it for the rolonic web display. :-( So I'm thinking that the first line in the iframe would be a list, say "doc lsecs" and clicking on lsecs would replace the document in the iframe with the lsecs table. Something for me to do tomorrow morning before the release. Bill --------------------------------- Yahoo! India Answers: Share what you know. Well, I've an idea now as to what happened to the mailing lists--Yahoo has been added to one of the standard lists of email servers which allow spam to be sent. But then I guess sourceforge unblocked it. Anyway, I've good progress to report. I've finished the updates to AwServlet. It now defaults to the wiki display. So I'm ready to release! (James, are we ready to release?) I will be so glad to give users something better than the half-baked GUI we've been serving up. Bill --------------------------------- Yahoo! Looks like the java.net list is still pretty flaky. So I'm going with the sourceforge list. I started looking over the AwServlet code and I expect that it will not take long to get it up-to-speed on the wiki uim. Perhaps it will make the next release. :-) Bill --------------------------------- Yahoo! India Answers: Share what you know. Well it looks like the java.net list server is still down. And I keep forgetting that the sourceforge list server ignores cc's. Oh well. I did some changes at the office and, not having a nice svn gui there, forgot to add some modules. Which prevented Sougata from testing yesterday. :-( But it is fixed now. And there has been some good progress on simple ledger as well, though there is still some work remaining. Bill --------------------------------- Yahoo! India Answers: Share what you know. Sougata, I just realized you were asking about searching. 99% of the time, we don't search. Mostly we resolve names within the current context. You can see this now if you edit a document and include in it the name of another topic which is within scope and which is a ProperWikiName. (We'll get into brace syntax later--it is not yet implemented.) You can see this partly at work with the topics command. This lists the topics within name scope. Now remember I also mentioned inverted tables of name/value pairs? These are for classifiers but are not yet implemented. We've got a long way to go. So we kinda do searching using recursive descent. And we also use inverted indexes (but later). I asure you, there is a lot of fun in store. Unfortunately, we're not prototyping. so the priority right now is to create a good wiki over an architecture that supports all kinds of wild stuff, and then expose the wild stuff later. I do miss prototyping. Then playing with new ideas and developing new techniques had priority. Of course, you can't really put together a team of developers when there is too much in flux. (I've tried with a team of 10 employees. Everyone gets very frustrated. Even when later I tried with a team of 2 employees, by the time everyone came up to speed, the design changed!) So the advantage now is that when you have a question, I'll likely know the answer. Its just a matter of getting you up to speed as fast as we can. And the best way to do that is to get a good grounding in how to use what is already there. And that brings us back to my favorite thing: code a little, learn a little. :-) By the way, I'm very excited about simple ledger, especially as we dropped the date field. It really is a complete single-entry bookkeeping system. The jnl command displays all the entries, and each row in the table is a total for a given account. Indeed, if you use negative numbers for debits, then the running total should always come to zero. (Please support negative numbers!!!) Sougata, Never fear, it is always good to hear from you. And of late, the discussion list(s) have been a bit too quiet, so it is especially good to hear from you. I'll look at your code tonight or tomorrow morning, with pleasure! As for your question, my answer is that this is not a RDBMS, but rather it is an OODBMS. So there is no record. There are objects with various kinds of attributes. Though to be fair, in TKS I refer to record ids, but they are more correctly named in ArkDb as rolon ids. Now when you do the add entry command, the current context will be the rolon to be updated. You are assured this because in the init method of the command, you attach the command to the SiimpleLedgerRolon class. (The init method is called when the program starts--commands are singletons.) You can then get the Rolon class (the data proxy) like this: SimpleLedgerRolon slr=(SimpleLedgerRolon)session.getContext(); Now because slr inherits from TableRolon, you can use the accessor methods on TableRolon to manipulate the document property. The value of the document property is a text document in comma separated form. To update it (in evaluateForm), you just call: slr.setDoc(newvalue); You can also access the content this way: List<List<String>> content=slr.getContent(Timestamp.NOW); (Note that ALL queries require a timestamp, while updates ASSUME a time of Timestamp.NOW, which is current time.) You may also consider using the columnIndex and getCellInRowNoBraces methods defined in TableRolon. Note that the first list in the list of lists returned by getContent is the list of column names. And when you call setContent(newvalue), the first line must be the column names separated by commas. Now as for a bit of what's going on.. You will see that getContent access class org.agilewiki.ark.TableContent. This is a cache object. It makes queries fast, but creates a problem when you make changes. This is handled in TableRolon.setDoc by the call to invalidateContent, which purges the old content from the cache. Another thing you will see are references to decRef. This has to do with reference counting used to manage cache objects. When you access a cache object, its reference count is automaticly incrimented, so getContent does a decref right after making a copy of the data it wants. I hope this is helpful. No doubt it will lead to more questions, but you know my prefered approach--code a little, learn a little. I also like frequent code reviews--it is important to nail misconceptions early. Now, just to go a very small bit deeper, TKS maintains simple property/value pairs, tables of key/value pairs and inverted tables of key/value pairs. These are largely distinguished by naming conventions. Looking in another direction, there are only a few caches maintained by the ark: TableContent, Pathname and Topics. Additionally, TKS maintains a cache of tables of key/value pairs. But note please that the TKS tables have absolutely nothing to do with Ark-level tables, which are really just csf documents. At an even lower level, btree keeps a cache of btree nodes. The important thing to remember about all caches is that they are transactionally aware. So if you make a change that gets recorded in a cache in the context of a transaction which subsequently gets aborted, the cache is automagicly cleared for you, as well as having the database restored to its prior value. And the thing to remember about transactions is that they can be nested. So you can partially undo and still continue. Its lots of fun. Enough? :-) Bill --- sougata bhattacharya <sou...@ya...> wrote: > Hi Bill, > I guess I am very poor so my query never ends. But > this is my style I never stop asking question.
