The ethos of the project will help new members understand the purpose of this project.
We are not here to make a new game. We are here to polish the current game. If some maps are not well done, we will make them better. If some problem exists in balance we will fix it, if some problem arises from gameplay we will do our best to fix that too.
We know that this game was the benchmark for games still being developed and that it can be brought into the modern era as an equally viable game to play. We will work with minimal changes, tweaking what already exists as a high priority. We will redesign certain things we think were poorly done and we will invent new things where we feel they should have been part of the original game.
It would be nice if we could have a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio game, with updated graphics, improved units, better tech tree bonuses and better economy in the game. It would be nice to have balanced multiplayer scenarios, real world maps that fit the civilisations in the game. Let your imagination run wild, constrain it with the idea we don’t want to make an entirely new game, and let your skills shine through as you polish this dusty relic of gaming history.
Everyone here is joined by selfless purpose towards this common goal. We will share ideas help people when we can and do as much as we can within our abilities. Our ethos is also to be a team working in unison. To work together we require communication, feedback and honest appraisals of ideas and works being done. No-one is in charge, we are a round table of people working together. All work is should be tabled for development and volunteers can pick one of those tabled items and do work on them. Some micro tasks maybe handed to other members to facilitate a given task, a person may have problems with a particular thing they have decided to work on. They can hand that item back into the pool or pass it on to some-one to help them get through their obstacle. Never feel that you are working alone, and always offer to help someone who needs help.
May the great light shine upon you and bless your work.
