Prakash,

The metric and shape information for each of the characters is defined by
the character set, the information for mapping these code points in the data
stream to the graphic character is contained in the code page. Therefore you
need to render the character that corresponds with the $ in the code page.
This will vary depending on the code page you are using. There isn't a
specific one although T1V10285 is commonly used.
