Hi Ryan, The project at http://afp-renderer.sourceforce.net is now out of date, it's staying around for people who are still using the very old version of FOP. The latest version of FOP now includes the AFP Renderer in the core distribution. I understand that there has been further development there, though I don't know if they've made any progress on outline fonts. You should have a look at http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/ and see if that version meets your needs, or you can post a question to the FOP mailing list. I am trying to get a Truetype font to work on a page with a 600 dpi resolution. According to the release notes a fellow developer found on sourceforge ( http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=271097), outline fonts are not supported yet. The documentation linked to the project page indicates that they can be configured into the system. Is it possible to add the Truetype font if I get someone to create a code page for it? In the configuration documentation it stated that you could modify the resolution from the default. What file would I find or add the renderer-resolution tag to? Any info would be appreciated. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryan DeGraw ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Patrick, You may want to check out the latest developments within the main Fop project - afp-renderer has been taken under the wing of the core guys at Fop. See http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/trunk/output.html#afp. This old project and it's use of fop 0.20 is rapidly becoming ancient history. Currently it is in the Fop sandbox but has already cleared the vote to become at some point soon upgraded to the main jar. I've been using it for the past couple of months and have found it to be very stable. On your other point - I've had some success in getting fonts to work with the Barr viewer by dropping ttf files in C:\Program Files\Barr \AFP Viewer\Fonts Yours, Keith On 9 Aug 2006, at 12:40, Patrick van Amstel wrote: > Dear news group, > > I'm batteling away with afp. > AFP is new to me and fop not. > > Question 1: > Is in fop 0.20.5 afp-fonts equal to > the fop.xconf in respect to the font info. > > in fop 0.20.5 there is use of the userconfig.xml > fonr info for pdf's are included in this file, > but must the afp-font info be include in this file > as well. Dear newsgroup, How do i install fonts on the BARR viewer? Does anyone have a proper file from afp output with info on how to view this file on the BARR viewer. This way i can configure the BARR viewer and hopefully get some afp out of the apache fop generator. many thanks, Patrick van Amstel |

Dear news group, I'm batteling away with afp. AFP is new to me and fop not. Question 1: Is in fop 0.20.5 afp-fonts equal to the fop.xconf in respect to the font info. in fop 0.20.5 there is use of the userconfig.xml fonr info for pdf's are included in this file, but must the afp-font info be include in this file as well. And if that is the case can anyone give me a sample. many thanks Patrick van Amstel |

Pete, We have the AFP fonts. It looks like the PDF is not ok. Is there a way to change the line spacing without changing the fo? The name specified in the IMM command is the name of a copy group in the used formdef. The parameters (tray, duplex, jog, etc) specified in the copy group is then used during print. In this way you can specify the print tray, duplex, etc. That is the way ISIS work. Isn't that the way AFP works as well? Best regards, Prakash. _____ Van: afp...@li... I *think* it should be a matter of letting the view know how to find the appropriate fonts, but it's been I while since I used any of those, so I can't say for sure. > Is there any way to embed the fonts used in the AFP document such as PDF > does? The AFP Renderer doesn't support embedded fonts, and I'm not certain that MO:DCA allows this either. From the AFP Programmimg Guide: "The print data streams can include text, images, graphics, and bar code in MO:DCA format" Perhaps it can be done, but I don't know enough to say for sure. In general, people usually install the relevant fonts on the target printer, or configure their view to find the fonts. -- Joe Schmetzer .:. Renaissance Developer .:. http://www.exubero.com/ |

I just stepped through this in the debugger, and the root cause is a UTFDataFormatException. The example you sent has the following xml prolog: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> This specifies that the file is encoded using utf-8. However, the file isn't really encoded this way, so the xml parser trips over itself and gives up. I tried removing the encoding declaration from the prolog, and everything seemed to work fine. i.e. use the following prolog instead: <?xml version="1.0"?> This will use the default encoding for your system (which worked for me int this case). Hi The AFP renderer does not support embedding images directly - it does however support overlays and page segments. However for a barcode you are better off using a barcode font as it will typically change with the data. Rgds, Pete -----Original Message----- From: afp...@li... When I use BTB AFP Viewer or some other tools,I can see the AFP without any problem. My companys mainframe team gave me an AFP file and I could open and see the contents in IBM AFP viewer (other viewers too).Is there anything the API does differently to create the final output?.
