Affisix / News: Recent posts

Last Thursday Affisix was presented on ITAT 2010 Conference. There ois an article in Czech in proceedings (ISBN 978-80-970179-3-4) and I gave a talk about it. If you want to take a look, you can get the talk on the web but it is in Czech too. What I also did is that I published all sources to the talk and to the poster from TSD Conference in git, so you take a deeper look at it ;-) And I'm working on new features and code cleanup and other things as can be seen, but nothing really finished yet ;-)

Yesterday, Affisix was presented on TSD Conference ( http://www.tsdconference.org/tsd2008/ ). We had a poster presentation. If you have missed it, you can take a look at our poster ( http://affisix.sourceforge.net/tsd2008.pdf ). Article about Affisix for TSD Conference has been also published on SpringerLink ( http://www.springerlink.com/content/w1v8144234102322/ ). If you have access to it, you can download it and read it. So even if you have missed conference, some materials can be still obtained ;-)

After long time, new version is out. First question to answer is probably why version 2.1.99. Well, there was some version 2.1 but it was canceled. So I skipped version 2.1 in numbering. Why not 2.2? Because I still want to finish something before version 2.2. Namely I want to play with threads some more to improve parallelism. Also some more testing may be useful.

So now something about changes. There is new method, namely squares method. Other new feature is threads support and some other features, like suffix recognition. Affisix now includes simple shell tool called affmark to help you with marking your results. And thats all main changes from users point of view.... read more

New Affisix web is finally ready. I've been working on in for some time and now I think it's good enough to be published. I hope our users will like it. Of course, I'll continue to improve it. I already have some minor and even major changes in my mind, but it will take a lot of time...
Other major change is that we've got project logo now. I'd like to thank my brother who make it for me. You can see small version of it on our new web page and it will be on the front page of next version of manual (which needs major updates).

Ok, lately I released version 2.0 of Affisix. There was major change in user interface. That was the main reason for version change. I've also done some small cleanups, but nothing really important. Other reason for changing version was, that I've started work on some other methods then entropy and I wanted to mark something as stable before I start some greater changes. New methods would be available from new user interface, so it can be useful to be able to get prepared ;-)

So let's mark current status as version 1.0. No bugs reported in testing and I'm going to do some major changes, so having some functional version can be useful ;-) What's planed in next version? Ability to use some more complex conditions for prefix and maybe some other methods then entropy.

First development release of sources (other then SVN ) is available. Should work fine with entropy methods. Why not releasing stable version? Some things in help may change during the weekend. So maybe next week ;-)
