I have downloaded aethera-0.9.1.tar.gz.
I have KDE-2.1.1 and QT-2.3.0, both
compiled from source running on RedHat
6.2, and linux 2.2.17. I have set and
exported KDEDIR and QTDIR. I do make
-f makefile.cvs, ./configure; make; and
make install, and all proceeds nicely.
When I attempt to run aethera though, I get:
aethera: error in loading shared libraries: /opt/kde-2.1.1/lib/libkdeui.so.3: undefined symbol: leaveEvent__8QSpinBoxP6QEvent
Any advice or suggestions?
Thanks,
--George

I would suggest trying the pre-built rpm for RH 6.2 instead. Make sure you totally remove Aethera first.

Thanks for the reply. However, I have little
interest in it if I can't compile it. Isn't
that what open source is all about?
Have you no idea why it builds but doesn't run?
The string 8QSpinBox does not appear anywhere
in the aethera source. Might this be a KDE bug?
A gcc bug?
Best regards,

No I don't, otherwise I would have told you. This is the same source that we built all the packages from. I had assumed you were more interested in running it than compiling it, which is why I suggested using the RPM.

I *am* more interested in running it
than compiling it, and I did not say otherwise.
I am just far less interested in running it if I
*can't* compile it. (I think this is one of the
real strong points of KDE, too -- the tarballs
build and run cleanly.) The odd thing about this
program (aethera) is that it compiles cleanly,
but barfs at runtime (for me, that is.)
Thanks anyway, though. It certainly
looks pretty in the screenshots, so I will surely
check out future versions.

Hi,
I am developing aethera using a RH6.2 system, KDE 2.1 and qt 2.2.4 and I haven't problems :)
Your problem sounds like you are compiling and running with different qt/kde libs.
I am sure it isn't a problem from aethera.
Thanks!
