I saw at www.kalliance.org, the producers of Magellan, that the Magellan code was stealed by TheKompany.com, that has promissed two developers to help their work with Magellan, and after they gave CVS access, TheKompany.com got the code and never talked again with kalliance.

    Is it true?

I'm sorry to see that Teddy still has that up.  We partnered with Teddy about a year ago, with every intention of continuing the work together.  work proceeded for several months, during that time CVS access suddenly went away with no communication from Teddy and then the web site went away in the same fashion.  We were left with no options but to create our own CVS and in the frustration of no information and slow task assignments from Teddy and differing priorities for the project it became clear that we couldn't continue like this.  The license of Magellan allowed us to take the code, close it and not say a word, but rather we made a point of telling everyone where it came from and thanking those who had done work.  The only reason we continued with the code instead of starting from scratch was because of how much time we had already spent on it, in all honesty while the design of the code is good, the actual code is terrible and we've had to spend a lot of time rewriting enormous sections of it which is what has slowed our delivery of betas so much.

Everyone talks about how great open source is because you can do things like this, but for some reason people have a problem with this actual scenario.  Hell, the program is still free, if you want to continue to wait for Magellan then please, by all means, go for it.

I too had wondered what happened.. there was a comment posted on dot.kde.org, stating something to the effect that "theKompany had stolen Magellan's code". "Stolen" implies "removed ownership from" as well as "transfered sole ownership to", and neither has happened, since the source code is publicly available for both projects and licensed in a way that allows for theKompany to do whatever they want to do with Magellan's code. In my eyes.. what happened was that theKompany forked Magellan's code, and has taken it much further than Magellan's coders can. I mean no disrespect to Magellan's coders, but if you look at the quality of the code, theKompany's wins, hands down.

Keep up the good work guys! I'm awaiting the maturing of this soon to be wonderful PIM.
