Looks pretty, but does it really work?

The source won't compile for me so I grabbed the RPM and installed that, relocating to /opt/kde2.
Program starts up and sure looks pretty, but a lot of the menu items and buttons don't seem to work!
Downloading my email seems to work, until it has finished and the an error pops up telling me there aren't that many messages. (huh? how many messages? what the heck is Aethera trying to tell me?) No new messages appear in the inbox until I exit and then restart Aethera. Now, if I delete those messages and then try to empty deleted messages folder by clickin gon Tools-Empty Delete Mail, well.. nada. Doesn't do squat.
Then today I notice there are new korelib on sourceforge, but the name and version are the same as the old, not a smart move since rpm refuses to 'upgrade' tells me that version is already installed. So I remove old version and install new, but Aethera still acts like a non-interactive demo for the most part.
I am running QT 2.3.0 and KDE 2.1.1 with KDE 2.1.2 libs. I gotta believe that my problems are explainable and correctable.... anyone have ideas?
I just finished reading the suggestions an bug posint by jwlinux of 5-25-2001 and see that someone else has (phrased very well) the problems I am having.
Since the author has replied to that message, I guess my questions/concerns have already been answered.
The answer is to wait. ;)
