I just committed the attached patch into the cvs repository, with the 
following log:

  New feature & bug fix: Implementation for GetStringUTFLength,
  GetStringUTFChars, and GetArrayLength.  Also fixed the typedef for
  CallNonvirtualByteMethodA and the missing assertion in
  ReleaseStringChars. Patch contributed by Gildas Bazin
  <gb...@al...>.

Also, I'll process the rest of your patch to jni.c asap.
