First of all very useful software.
We're using the standard patterns and they do a good
job however we have found on some sites that they
block legimitate content (such as popups and images).
I'm not complaining about the patterns - the problem in
this instance is web developers using names such as
front_banner etc for images.
As these sites need to be accessed I have to then go
through the squid_redirect file and try and figure out
exactly which pattern/s that particular URL (image,
popup, page etc) is matching and disable them. As you
can image it is a pretty tedious task.
Can we get a logging feature that outputs to a file
which rule a URL is matching ie
http://www.sourceforge.net/banner.jpg MATCHES RULES
1, 564, 1045
or similar. That way i could go straight into the
squid_redirect file and look for those lines and comment
them out.
Having this on alll the time would create overhead and
generate a large logfile so probably a on/off switch could
be used. That way you could turn logging on, find the
problem pattern, comment it out and then turn logging
back off again.
