After updating the squid_redirect program, squid keeps crashing. I
used adzapper lots of months already without any problems, but
when I updated to the last one squid fails to get started.

If I start squid like this: '/etc/init.d/squid start', the terminal gives
the green [ OK ], but if I try to stop it, it sais [ Failed]. After
searching I found that I can start squid manually like this: 'squid -
N -d 1 -D', which gives this output at the end:

2005/06/29 11:55:33| WARNING: redirector #1 (FD 6) exited
2005/06/29 11:55:33| WARNING: redirector #2 (FD 7) exited
2005/06/29 11:55:33| WARNING: redirector #3 (FD 8) exited
2005/06/29 11:55:33| Too few redirector processes are running
FATAL: The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help!

Aborted

So why do the new files crash? How can I get better output so I
can find out what exactly is the problem.

Can you give a link to an old version (> month old) so I can try if
the problem dissapears again? I was stupid enough to not backup
the old squid_redirect.

(I really like the program and hate surfing right now, I got used to
plain websites, and now all the gifs and flash things are screaming
for attention. Very very annoying. I already disabled gif animation
and the flash plugin, but this still gives static annoying ads...)
