Many thanks for the latest update of AdvanceMAME, this is a great update.
I really like to now be able to assign joystick buttons to events in AdvanceMenu.
I'm now finally building AdvanceMAME with SDL2 instead of SDL1 and I've noticed that with SDL2 the pixels ar uneven (unlike SDL1 or on my Raspberry Pi).
This gives a shimmering effect, very noticeable on scrolling games. ASO: Armored Scrum Object is a very good example of what I mean.
Ciao,
Salvatore

It's been a while but maybe some screenshots will help better explain what I mean.
Advancemame on my rpi:

Advancemame compiled with SDL1 on my main computer (Debian Buster):

Advancemame compiled without options (defaults to SDL2)):

See the difference?
Uneven pixels when SDL2 is used. I don't use windows but I've tried your windows build and the same thing happens.
Best regards,
Salvatore

The images above don't seem to work, but here are the links:

sdl2:

These screenshots where taken with Avancemame 3.9, all share the same config options.
BTW, I've edited the above post to include the image links.
