While trying to transfer a file via audio, I found that while the connection appears to be okay (which I checked by using the "?" button), whenever I try to receive a file, it says "HOST TIMEOUT" after about 5 seconds. Oddly enough, the (D)IR feature works, but receiving does not.

That's not he A2Retrosystems website, that's the ADTPro download site. But anyway... it sounds like it's possible that your host can't "hear" your Apple II. That might be because of the audio cable (you might try swapping cables to ensure the one known-good direction keeps working) or because the host's mic input may need boosting. See: http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/connectionsaudio.html#Boosting

I'll try that with the audio cables. I know one of my audio ports isn't great, but it's usually good enough to send disks to my //e.
Another question: I just transferred ADTPro 2.0.2 over a serial connection, using a USB-TO-DB25 cable. Now, though it boots up fine, it gets stuck on "WAITING FOR HOST REPLY, ESC CANCELS". When I press ESC, it makes a beeping noise and doesn't do anything.
If my USB-to-serial cable is just broken (though it worked before), where do you suggest I buy one?
Thanks!

If you transferred using Speediboot, that means you already have good 2-way communications. If you just pushed via text (i.e. "send ProdDOS") then it's possible there is a cabling problem. Especially if you had a setup that worked before, I'd be looking at what changed, driver levels, etc. before throwing money at the problem. That said, retrofloppy.com/products.html has proven-working serial hardware.

Thank you! That's very helpful. Unfortunately, considering that when I try Speediboot, it gets stuck on "LOADING MLI", I think my USB to serial cable may have just deteriorated for some reason.
Looking at RetroFloppy, it appears that I will need to buy both a USB to RS-232 Adapter and DB25M to DE9F Adapter for my desktop to connect with my Apple //e. Previously, I had used a (now apparently broken) USB to DB25 male cable to transfer disk images.

Damn! Just got a new serial cable, but it still doesn't work! Running 2.0.2, my //e can recieve info perfectly, but it can't be able to send anything to my computer's USB. Looks like I'll have to use RetroFloppy after all.

Hi,
I'm using the latest version of ADTPro as provided on the a2retrosystems website. (Version found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/adtpro/files/adtpro/Testcase/ADTPro-v.r.m/)

It isn't the actual website, but it's the one it links to here: http://a2retrosystems.com/downloads.htm.

Yep, if Speediboot won't work, then one of the two directions isn't communicating. It could be cabling, USB/Serial driver, or serial port problems.

Free is best, but your time is also valuable. ;-)
