wow.  dosbox is great!  thank you very much.  unfortunately, the sound 
from visual composer under dosbox on my powerbook is choppy.

i will look into other adlib formats.  hopefully there is something 
more modern, that can be used natively on my hardware.  my hopes for a 
vst instrument plug-in seem nil, though.  :)
