Foster's been working to clean-up the Mac UI core implementation for  
today's release - take a look once it's out then you might work with  
him to see if there is a way to get what you want.

Out of curiosity - are there particular layouts that give you trouble  
with Eve? If you can, send me a screen shot of a layout from IB -  
I've got a list of changes I want to make to the Eve engine cued up  
(mostly in support of RTL languages) that I'll be rolling into .14  
or .15 - I'm hoping to improve the poi/guide implementation as part  
of this work.
