I (missive@hotmail.com) am attempting to install
MPLAB-C18-Student-Edition-v2_40-win32.exe
using wine.
The installer starts to unpack everything, but almost
immediately, I get:
"An internal error has occured attempting to create
the time stamp for MPLAB C18 v2.40 Demo.
Please contact Microchip for assistance. (Error
Code: )"
A permissions problem?
The install.log shows:

Nevermind. I see now how the ebuilds are getting
around this particular problem.
