I am running SuSE 9 on a Dell Inspirion 3800 and I have a
DWL 650+ card for wirless and a Xircom card for Ethernet. Of
course I trade cards when going from wired to wireless....

I followed all the installation instructions and have even got the
light on the D-LINK card shining. So far so good. I type in
#iwconfig and am rewarded with the following info:

lo no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 v0.2.0pre5 ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Channel:10 Access Point:
00:00:00:00:00:00
Bit Rate=11Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm
Encryption key:xxxxxxxxx Security mode:open
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid
frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed
beacon:0

I go into Yast2 and configure a pcmcia wireless network... and
even so no network. Problem is, being a novice, I don't really
know where my problem lies. Is it with the drivers? Is it with
the configuration? Is it with SuSE 9?

Could someone please give me a friendly shove in the right
direction?

Thanx!

Please try to adapt scripts/start_net to your network
settings; using distribution configuration methods might
perhaps fail in case of some wrong assumptions or of some
    specific missing check results...
