Well I finally dug out the old machine and got it working. This is a
MASSIVE improvement. iperf reported 421KB/s in one direction and
337KB/s in the other with NO nasty messages in the kernel log.

Just so you know, I used OpenWRT r24978, which is the latest from the
Backfire branch. I didn't make any changes beyond replacing
acx-mac80211 with the newer version.
