Hi, I'm also one of the 'lucky' owners of a nic with a acx100 chipset. I have managed to install the beta driver, and i am wondering what other people's experience with it is. my setup is: laptop running w2k with a level one wpc-0200 nic. server is a linux redhat 8.0 with a level one wnc-0200 nic. the supplied windows drivers refer to it as a GL2422 sth., so I guess it's a repackaged EUSSO card ? Anyway, i got it to work by compiling the stock mandrake 8.2 kernel and installing it on my rh8 server. it basically works, but range and reliability are lousy. my server is in my spare room, and my laptop in my living room (max. 10m. apart), and connections becomes very unreliable when both computers are not in each other's line of sight. if I close the 2 doors between, i hardly get a signal. I guess that this is because of the lousy linux driver ? (i get tons of acx100 messages in my syslog). anyway, just curious for other people's experience. Tom. -- Tom Van Overbeke <tom...@pa...> |

hi, the project status: plaing. this porject is just about a few days old and we keep putting things together so there isn't much there yet. I'll review all the driver (modded and unmodded) i got laying around here and up them to sf.net when i'm done with -afaik- infos about the differences. reg. Hi all, I noticed that this project has been started and I'm interested in providing any help I can to get working Linux drivers for the acx100 chipset. I have a Dlink DWL-520+ PCI card that I bought because I've always been happy with Dlink and didn't realize at the time that it used a new chipset that lacked Linux drivers. Yesterday and today I've been given the runaround by TI and Dlink. I contacted TI asking either for a driver or for the technical details of their chip so that a driver could be created. I was told they don't write drivers and the chip is under NDA, and the tech support guy suggested I use the information available online to help with development. Hello! What information online? Dlink was just as useless. The first response to my question concerning the status of their Linux drivers (development started? 25% complete? etc) was that they didn't know anything about their status. I responded and asked if they could find out for give me contact information for someone who could give me more information. I received the same response, which basically is to keep checking their product support website. So it looks like we're going to have to do things ourselves. I unfortunately have no driver delopment experience but I can pick up things *very* quickly and have most recently been working on an embedded MP3 player using an Atmel AVR microcontroller and compact flash cards. What is the current status of the project? If I can do anything to help please let me know! Thanks, Andy Goldstein amg...@ya... __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi all, I just wanted to say that after upgrading to 2.5.64 (and fixing some 2.5.64 locking bug in between ;-), I can now properly suspend/resume with the wireless card built-in, using ACPI instead. The ACX100 card used to prevent me from suspending properly, by immediately resuming after a suspend. I can only enter standby mode, however (echo 1 >/proc/acpi/sleep). A real suspend mode (echo 3 >/proc/acpi/sleep) kills the machine on resume, unfortunately. :-\ In short, I can now finally use my notebook "productively" again... 2.5.64 is pretty impressive already, BTW. *Much* better scheduling behaviour than 2.4.x. (and it's bound to get even much better very soon!) I just hope I can start doing some ACX100 development work soon... -- Help prevent Information Technology Fascism! - before it's too late... http://www.againsttcpa.com |

Hi all, I haven't received any mails from this list so far, and the archives are also non-working (error message). Whassup? One could also call this a "test mail"... -- Help prevent Information Technology Fascism! - before it's too late... http://www.againsttcpa.com |
