Bugs item #877704, was opened at 2004-01-15 18:41 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by andim2 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=543745&aid=877704&group_id=75380 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None >Priority: 6 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) >Summary: Antenna settings problematic (was: DWL-520+ antenna 0x99 ok) Initial Comment: hi, i installed the driver version 0x02pre6 on redhat 9.0, standard kernel (modified for pentium I). I've had a really crappy long distance connection with lots of reconnects and 3/4 of all packages getting lost. Then I changed my antenna settings via iwpriv to 0x99(153) and it works fine with 11 Mbit ! I mean...that's great, but can anyone tell me why this happens? thx ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Andreas Mohr (andim2) Date: 2004-01-15 19:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=132674 Uh oh. Sounds like some cards don't like our preinitialized antenna value (we use 0x8f), since they seem to have a different antenna setup than "usual" cards... Try removing wlandev->antenna = 0x8f; wlandev->set_mask |= GETSET_ANTENNA; in src/acx100_helper.c and report whether that fixes it. In this case we probably shouldn't force our own antenna setting upon cards at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=543745&aid=877704&group_id=75380 |

FWIW When I load driver I got 0x8d antenna-value, driver change it to 0x8f. I don't see that this disturb sth. I saw that many people has 0x8f at the beginning of loading process. .. Got antenna value 0x8d ... Updating antenna value: 0x8F .. -- All the best!
