I appreciate the help if anyone has insights. First the relevant information

PowerBook G3
Kernel: 2.6.24-gentoo-r3
Card is Linksys WPC54G vers 2, with TI ACX111 chipset

I have tried this two different ways, first with emerge and second is the manual method. Getting the appropriate drivers and firmware seem to be the easy part, but when I insert the card I get the following output in DMESG.

pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0
acx: this driver is still EXPERIMENTAL
acx: reading README file and/or Craig's HOWTO is recommended, visit in case of further questions/discussion
acx: compiled to use 32bit I/O access. I/O timing issues might occur, such as non-working firmware upload. Report them
PCI: Enabling device 0000:01:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)
acx: found ACX111-based wireless network card at 0000:01:00.0, irq:22, phymem1:0x80020000, phymem2:0x80000000, mem1:0xd5048000, mem1_size:8192, mem2:0xd5a80000, mem2_size:131072
acx: eCPU is already running. reset_dev() FAILED
acx_pci: probe of 0000:01:00.0 failed with error -5
usbcore: registered new interface driver acx_usb

I can then do modprobe acx and it inserts the proper driver and lsmod gives

Module                  Size  Used by
acx                   100204  0
ipv6                  266356  14
pcmcia                 38708  0
firmware_class          8608  2 acx,pcmcia
yenta_socket           26348  2
rsrc_nonstatic         10528  1 yenta_socket
pcmcia_core            39196  3 pcmcia,yenta_socket,rsrc_nonstatic

But iwconfig wants to be stubborn and instead just lists

lo     no wireless extensions

eth0   no wireless extensions

I believe my issue is with the acx driver, but I can't for the life of me figure out the problem. The only details I have are the cryptic error messages in dmesg that don't give any help when searched for online.

acx: eCPU is already running. reset_dev() FAILED
acx_pci: probe of 0000:01:00.0 failed with error -5

Does anyone have any insight, or has someone been able to get a similar configuration working?
