#3 Lots of traffic causes DWL-520+ driver to hang.

No

I'm not certain how to describe this, or what files to
send, but here's the phenomology:
OS: Mandrake 9.1 with default kernel (2.4.21-0.13mdk)
Problem: When I atttempt to make a large number of
network calls (?) the driver hangs and I lose
connectivity. An example would be using scp to copy 20
or so files to another machine on my lan.

The only way I can re-establish the link is to reload
the module (after removing it).

Could this be a bug? How can I help to fix it?

You haven't included a log yet, but I guess that the driver
does NOT hang (or at least I haven't heard of that yet), but
instead it has ring buffer problems (which should still be
    there even with 0.2.0pre3, unfortunately).
    This needs fixing.

0.2.0pre4 should make sure this problem is fixed again,
    please try.
    Thanks!

Same for me (kernel 2.4.22) & 1 weeks-old CVS co.
After a few minutes of net trafic ( browsing for example ) ,
the driver hangs, and network is down.

I use this dirty script to re-enable periodically my wlan0:

    olivier@aurora:~/scripts/wifi$ cat dwl520keepUp.sh
    #!/bin/sh
    while true; do
    iwconfig wlan0 essid mtice mode managed;
    sleep 60;
    done
    olivier@aurora:~/scripts/wifi$

    /var/log/messages report bunch of:
Oct 13 15:56:44 aurora kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: wlan0:
    transmit timed out.

i'll try to update my sources today.

I got same exectly situation! And even more. If the driver no
active for some time -- about 10 - 20 min, connection lost!
I had stop syslog on my comp -- Mandrake 9.1 with 2.4.21-
0.13 kernel, becouse the log file become too huge -- ~2GB!

I'm also getting that annoying problem, my wireless interface
loses connectivity after a while of being up. The solution: just
executing "iwconfig essid XXXXXX mode Managed..." every 5
minutes (or the time you need), introducing it as a new line in
crontab (with it's propper format, more info "man crontab"),
and cron daemon takes care of geting my interface up every
5 minutes. Just another momentary solution, while the
    problem is solved.

Hmm, does 0.2.0pre5 fix it, by chance?
If not, then please attach a log with debug 0x109b.

    Thanks!

The last pre6 driver still hang up on 2.4.22 kernel and couse a
lot traffic. Is the any work around to keep driver up?
For some reason renew essid & mode for iwconfig doesn't help!
and I must unload --> load driver. Distributive Gentoo 1.4,
    gcc -03, pentium4.

I've just gotten my DWL-520+ working on Slackware 9.1
(2.4.22) and it's working well including WEP. But I, too,
occasionally lose connection with the rest of the network
even though there is no indication of a problem in any of the
logs that I have found. Unloading and reloading the module
    clears the problem.

What can I do to gather more information to help figure out
    what's happening?

I guess, I reported accidentally the same issue as Bug#
    850351 - I attached a logfile with debug=0x109b. Perhaps
this helps to tackle the problem.

I have the same problem. I am using Mandrake 9.2 with
    Craig's (http://www.houseofcraig.net/acx100_howto.php)
    precompiled driver version 0.2pre6.
It does not necessarily happen with lots of traffic - it just
seems to happen once in a while.

Closing due to no activity within the last 6 months.

If you want to reopen the bug please make sure you have checked
that the problem persists even with the latest driver.
You can get the driver from http://lisas.de/~andi/acx100/
