This is why originally I said that it's a good requirement for version =
2.  What we'd like to do eventually is provide the ability to do =
automatic registration by having ActiveLock connecting to an activation =
server, running somewhere in your company, in order to obtain the key. =

Sorry, I was wrong when I said you can use "Lock to random number" =
because this causes the software code you change for every install, as =
you mentioned. So "Lock to Custom String" is probably your only option. =
With this option, you'd generate the key for the customer ahead of time, =
store it in your installer, and have your installer import that key into =
the registry during the install. The reason why I said this is not very =
secure is that your customer can then install as many copies of this =
version as they want even when they've just paid for one copy.=20

Bottom line is, and Mike Thurmond has already pointed this out, you =
can't really do it in ActiveLock 1.x and trying to make it do it will =
make the protection less secure.

of machines. But the user must contact you to get the necessary unlock =
code after installing your application on a specific machine. Instead of =
making an install that only runs once, the user contacts you after =

        In version 1, I guess what you could do is generate a liberation =
key using either just "Lock To Random Number" or "Lock To Custom =
String", then have your installer import that key into the registry =

something for downloadable software that is like the registration key  u =
get with windows on the packaging material. The registration key is on =
the packaging material and wokrs no matter where the software is =
