i got the Acer Travelmate 621 running.
i installed suse 8.0 ( kernel 2.4.18 )
i started alsaconf - it detected a I8x0 soundcard - after modifying my
etc/modules.conf and loading the drivers
i heard "ta ta ta ta ta ..." (endless repeated short sound) and my
system crashed : no keyboard, no mouse, no ctrl-alt-bs, no num-lock
after rebooting my modules.conf was corrupted ( looked like a memory
dump, think the filesize was correct, hmm? )
i patched the kernel source:
/usr/src/linux/>patch -p1 acpipatch20020611.diff (i don't remember
the correct filename... nor option i used, i had to skip the first
i activated everythink with ACPI in it's name.
severeal redefined id warnings (something with Debug ... )
two undefined identifiers in one acpi source ( filename? don't remember
but the file was a list of EXPORT( hw_* ) lines )
i removed those two lines
some errors in pci hotplug sources. make xconfig. removed pci hotplug
installed the new Kernel. reboot.
( the boot message said: bios has disabled acpi support, then acpi
support was switched on. )
lspci -vv looked good
alsaconf worked fine
i installed divx player 5 and looked a good enterprise movie (with
besides: i've a preinstalled windows xp home and while playing dungeon
keeper it crashed, ... i heard a repeated "ta ta ta ta ta..." :-)
next i will test the pcmcia slots and the built in smartcard reader...
