hi, i'm encountering problems with kernels > 2.4.21
with kernels <=3D 2.4.21, the cpu fan is detected and is on when necessary
(i can feel it blow) even if the dmesg reports that it couldn't turn
cooling device ON.
The problem is that the power button and lid are not properly handled
(the dmesg reports a Device Insert/Remove when I play with them).
So i decided to use a newer kernel, and to my delight, the buttons were
working, and there was no longer error messages concerning the fan. But
the problem is, with this new kernel, the computer would shut down.
After investigation, I realised that this was because the CPU was never
on (no air blowing), even if the data in /proc reported that it was, so
the CPU heat was going up and at ~95=B0C, the computer shut down for
I tried kernels from 2.4.22 to 2.4.23-rc2 (with the latest acpi patches)
but it didn't fix the problem
can you help me ?
enclosed with this mail are several logs and files i thought could be
interesting, both from the fan-working kernel version 2.4.21 and
fan-not-working one (2.4.23-rc2 with the latest acpi patch)
