I found some news that might be of some interest for the list. The new SuSE
8.1 (shipped next week in German and a few days later in English) includes a
backport patch for ACPI from 2.5 to 2.4. I have no idea if it is really a
backport (with some more enhancements from 2.5) or the 2.4 patch.
On the German SuSE web site there is a page with a lot of but not really
detailed information about ACPI in general and about the SuSE patch. It's
only available in the German description of the new release
(http://www.suse.de/de/private/products/suse_linux/i386/acpi.html). There is
a nearly equivalent web site for the U.S./international version
(http://www.suse.com/us/private/products/suse_linux/i386/index.html) but no
info about ACPI at all.
What is interesting on the SuSE web site is that they want the users of the
new release to send them their experiences with ACPI for blacklisting. I
really hope they commit this information to the developers...
Does anyone know more about the facts?
