I use the kernel 2.4.18 on my new SRX41P laptop, with the latest ACPI
patch (20020404). It works fairly well (events are sent and handled by
acpid, /proc/acpi entries show valid data), but I have a few
- CPU throttling does work, ie its slows down the CPU. But how much
power saving can be expected ?
- Changing core CPU mode (switching from 800 to 500 MHz) does not work :
kiwi:~# cat /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance
state count: 2
active state: P0
*P0: 800 Mhz, 9800 mW, 250 uS
P1: 500 Mhz, 5900 mW, 250 uS
kiwi:~# echo "1" >/proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance
acpi_processor-1063 acpi_processor_set_per: Transition failed
Is this a known problem ? Is this specific to my laptop ?
- sleeping doesn't work well :
kiwi:~# cat /proc/acpi/sleep
S0 S3 S4 S5
cat "5" >/proc/acpi/sleep will simply turn off the computer, it's OK
cat "4" >/proc/acpi/sleep doesn't seem to do anythin
cat "3" >/proc/acpi/sleep seems to be what I want to do, ie it turns
the computer off, with the orange led blinking. But when I try to turn
it on (by pushing the power button), the green led turns on, but the
computer is hung. I have to remove the battery to reset it.
Again, is it supposed to work ? if so, what should I try ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
