About: AcerHK GUI started out as a learning project for me as I was learning python. The objective was to create an interface to simplify turning on/off the wireless and bluetooth radios. It has grown a bit to include source code compiling for the acerhk driver module and it now includes several directories of project files. These are either supporting or complimentary projects.
Development: Development and project updates have been non-existent for several years. Partly driven by time available and partly by my reliance less on my acerhk machine. As of Feb 2015, I am working to update these programs to provide for current and working versions. See below for more information on the various programs on this page:
Current Programs:
(NEW) Cinnamon Applet - This only provides a system-tray applet to interface with the driver. If you do not have the driver installed, I recommend you download the installation scrip from the Ubuntu 11.04+ folder (acerhk-driver-install-script_v2015-02-16.zip)
(UPDATED) Driver Installation Script - Several scripts are on this site. I am leaving the outdated versions in case someone finds them useful; however, PLEASE default to using the acerhk-driver-install-script_v2015-02-16.zip first. Only if this fails, try an alternate one.
(UPDATED) Driver Souce Code - A copy of the latest source code updated to compile. This updated did break the driver's "info" option and affect current versions of AcerHK GUI; however, it does compile and function on Linux Kernels 3.10 and above. The latest version should be available from the package maintainer if this copy falls out of date at: https://launchpad.net/~gruenertee/+archive/ubuntu/acerhk
(Fixed) AcerHK GUI - this was tweaked and should now install and run; however, if it fails or the driver fails to install, please download and use the Driver Installation Script referenced above.
NOTE: I am currently planning to do a complete rewrite of this program and update it with the following:
* Driver Installation and Configuration
* AppIndicator Support
* Python 3 support - undecided
