Perhaps my experience has been a bit limited - or maybe I'm just not very observant - but I've noticed that whenever, I see a Nested Scope in an AAF file, it invariably seems to be used as part of an Operation Group. In other words, it groups together one or more souce clips with some sort of effect.

Is there any other use for a Nested Scope - apart from its role in the implementation of an Operation Group?  If so, what other things would a Nested Scope be used for?

According to the description of IAAFNestedScope, it's supposed to be used "in a manner much like common subexpressions in mathmatical expressions."  What exactly does that mean? Can anyone clarify it a bit?
