I am still looking into the development of the GUI IDE. So far the
idea to use wxPython and Boa Constructor are looking reasonably well.
wxPython appears to support all the things we need for A-A-P. The main
developer of Boa Constructor is very much interested in working
There are also disadvantages (aren't there always?):
- wxPython for Unix is based on GTK, I have seen occasional error
messages. wxPython may not be 100% stable. But it's open source,
every problem can be fixed (does take time though).
- Boa Constructor is very much oriented towards Python applications.
Changing this will require quite a bit of work. Some windows need to
be moved around, some parts need to be created.

I have received suggestions for alternatives from Alexander R=F6dseth.
Thanks Alexander! I found one potentially useful combination: The pyQt
toolkit with the Eric IDE.
Qt is a well-known and successful GUI toolkit, available for many
platforms. pyQt provides the Python bindings for it.
Main disadvantage is that Qt and pyQt are commercial. Free (GPL)
versions are available, restricted to certain versions (depends on the
platform). The docs for pyQt are a list of differences from the C++
version, not easy to use.
I don't know how well Eric works, I could not manage to install it yet
(that a bad sign...).
