Book Searcher is an open-source, high-performance search engine for creating and searching private digital book catalogs. Written in Rust, it builds compact indexes from book metadata stored in CSV files. The project reports indexing more than 10 million books in approximately one minute and performing searches in microseconds under benchmark conditions. Users can search by title, author, publisher, language, file extension, ISBN, or book identifier. Its search interface supports filtering and exploratory matching across multiple fields. The software provides desktop applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux alongside a command-line server and web interface. Docker deployment and an HTTP search API enable self-hosted integrations. Users supply and maintain their own book metadata because the project does not distribute books.
